Jonathan Shaham's practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He advises clients across a wide range of technologies, including electrical engineering, semiconductor devices, machine learning and artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, business methods, and integrated circuitry. His experience spans both hardware- and software-based inventions, with particular depth in integrated circuits, logic and memory architectures, RF front-end electronics, and emerging AI-driven technologies.
Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan gained substantial experience in patent prosecution and post-grant proceedings. Before law school, he worked for two years as a technical specialist at a patent law firm, where he supported patent prosecution matters and developed a strong foundation in electrical and computer engineering–related technologies. During law school, Jonathan served as a legal intern on the patent team of a major international technology company, where he worked closely with in-house counsel on a variety of intellectual property matters. He also spent time as a summer associate at a major national law firm, handling patent prosecution as well as trademark and copyright matters, including pro bono work for a diverse client base.
While attending the University of Maryland School of Law, Jonathan was President of the Intellectual Property Student Association and was actively involved in the Intellectual Property Clinic, where he provided patent and business counseling to clients affiliated with the law school. As a President's Entrepreneurial Fellow, he led a team of law students conducting patentability analyses of deuterated molecules and associated pharmaceuticals, culminating in a presentation at the University of Maryland BioTech Center. Jonathan has also worked as a patent agent contractor assisting with fast-track patent prosecution matters. Jonathan is currently awaiting admission to the bar in Minnesota and pursuing admission to the bar in Massachusetts.
Jonathan brings extensive technical experience to his practice, including knowledge of integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, wireless and 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, software, business methods, and medical devices, as well as programming and logic circuit design.
